A Year of Gratitude: Reflecting on Adventures, Connections, and Family

As Thanksgiving approaches, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible experiences, adventures, and connections that have shaped this year. It’s been a year of checking off bucket list items, creating new friendships, and sharing meaningful moments with my family.

Here’s a look back at the highlights that have filled my heart with gratitude.

Adventures That Inspired and Connected Me

This year has been filled with breathtaking adventures, each one leaving me in awe of nature’s beauty and the bonds formed along the way.

  • Yosemite’s Firefall Magic: Early this year, I met a group of strangers in Yosemite to witness the iconic Firefall. Little did I know these strangers would become lifelong friends. Sharing one of nature’s most awe-inspiring moments reminded me how adventures bring people together in the most meaningful ways.

  • Stephen’s Gap Callahan Cave: Exploring this stunning cave was a surreal experience. Adding to the moment's beauty was the new friend I made along the way. Sometimes, the best connections happen when you least expect them.

  • Havasupai Falls: In April, I had the privilege of leading an incredible group of women to Havasupai. For many of us, it was a bucket list dream come true. Watching their faces light up at the sight of turquoise waterfalls and red rock canyons was unforgettable, but even more meaningful was seeing their expressions when they realized what they had accomplished. Many stepped far outside their comfort zones, conquering the challenge of climbing down and back up a set of steep stairs with chains. It was a powerful reminder of what we can do when we push past fear and doubt.

  • Angel’s Landing: Completing this iconic hike was a major accomplishment. The thrill of standing at the summit was matched by my gratitude for the strength and courage it took to get there.

  • Women’s Trip to Guatemala: One of the highlights of my year was taking a group of women to Guatemala to hike Volcán Acatenango and witness the fiery eruptions of Volcán de Fuego. Watching these women conquer fears, step out of their comfort zones, and embrace the adventure was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

  • Meeting Online Friends in Guatemala: While in Guatemala, I had the incredible opportunity to meet friends I had connected with online in person for the first time. What a gift it was to bridge the virtual and real worlds in such a meaningful way!

Cherished Family Time

While adventures feed my soul, time with family and loved ones fills my heart.

  • Family in Guatemala: Spending time with my sister and her family in Guatemala was a beautiful reminder of how important it is to nurture family bonds, no matter how far apart we are.

  • Celebrating in Connecticut: In June, I attended my niece’s wedding in Connecticut. It was a joyful reunion filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

  • Moments in North Carolina: This year also brought cherished moments with family and longtime friends in North Carolina. There’s nothing like being surrounded by people who’ve known you through every stage of life.

  • Thanksgiving in Chicago: This holiday, I’m incredibly thankful to celebrate with my husband’s family in Chicago. Gathering together, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other’s presence reminds me of how important family is.

  • A Big Milestone: My oldest will be graduating this December! Watching my kids grow and thrive has been one of life’s greatest blessings, and I can’t wait to celebrate this achievement with my family.

Gratitude for Growth and Connection

This year has been a testament to the power of connection. From meeting online friends in person to guiding women on transformative trips, I’ve learned that life’s greatest joys come from the relationships we build.

Helping others achieve their goals—whether it’s summiting a volcano or visiting a dream destination—has brought me immense fulfillment. Through it all, I’ve been reminded of how grateful I am for the support of my family, friends, and this incredible community.

A Special Thank You to My Audience

To my incredible community, you are an essential part of this journey. Your encouragement, engagement, and trust mean the world to me. Whether you’ve followed my adventures, joined me on a hike, or shared a kind word, I’m endlessly grateful for your presence in my life. You inspire me to keep creating, exploring, and helping others discover their sense of adventure.

Thank you for being here, believing in me, and sharing this journey.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

As I look ahead to the next chapter, my heart is full of thanks for all this year's blessings. Life is a beautiful adventure, and the people we share it with make it truly remarkable.

This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to reflect on the moments of joy and connection that have shaped your year. Let’s celebrate the big milestones, the quiet moments, and the people who make life meaningful.

With gratitude and love,
