Make it Count!

People always say, “You only live once” I disagree. I believe, “We live every day of our life, and we only die once, so make each day count.” I am a half-century old now, and for some, starting anything at this age may seem late. However, I am here to set the record straight, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE. Life experiences continue until we pass. We continue to learn new things every day, and, as humans, we are in constant transformation. I don’t mean we change who we are, but our likes, dislikes, wants, or needs do change. And sometimes, it just takes a little longer to figure out our wants or purpose. It’s taken me a lifetime. Don’t get me wrong; I know that everything I have experienced and done so far has always been a part of the plan and meant to be in my life. All my past has led me here.

Marrying my best friend has always been a part of the plan. We were destined to marry long ago. Call it coincidence, destiny, or a window view of my future. But at the age of ten, my father gifted me a Holy Bible that remains with me to this day. He bought this bible for me in Guatemala. Ten years after my wedding and twenty-seven (27) years after moving to the United States, my mother was reading my bible and asked me, how did you get your last name on this bible? I replied, what do you mean? She opened the Bible to the first page, which happens to be a photo of the Holy Family, and at the bottom of the page, the name Overbeck jumped out.

The painter of the Holy Family was named John F. Overbeck. For twenty years before I married my husband, I had a bible that bears my married last name on the front page. What are the odds of a little girl from Guatemala having this??? So, you see, I know my husband has always been a part of the plan. Having and raising my beautiful children has always been a part of the plan. I knew them before I even had them. The day I met them, my soul just knew who they were. Teaching them values and helping them grow into fine young humans has always been a part of the plan. I have had many jobs in my life. I have had the opportunity to work in the legal field as a legal assistant. I have worked in medical sales as a pharmaceutical sales rep and marketing representative, but of all those jobs, being a mother has been the most important job.

So where is this post going? Now that my children are older, I have found time to reflect and explore what has brought joy and happiness to my life. Over the years, I have found that helping others has always brought joy to my heart. My passions and hobbies include photography, traveling, running, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. So, a few years ago, it dawned on me that my goal or purpose in life is to combine all my passions to help others find their purpose, dreams, and goals. I hope to inspire them and you by sharing my experiences, my failures, my achievements, my goals, my passions, and, more importantly, my desire to continue to grow.

So going back to my previous statement, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START SOMETHING NEW! The only thing that can hold us back are our limiting beliefs and our fears. Whether pursuing a new career, or a personal passion, embarking on a new adventure can be challenging and rewarding at any age. It’s important to remember that every day is an opportunity to grow and to work on our purpose and our goals. So, remember, we live every day of our life, and we only die once in our life, so MAKE IT COUNT! Join me on this journey!
